“We’re the Orellana Family- Welcome to our story.”

Family of six outdoors in fall, standing under a large tree, with sunlight filtering through leaves, on a grassy area covered with fallen leaves, wearing neutral and warm-toned clothing.
Three children playing on grass underneath a wooden fence, laughing and cuddling together.
Three young boys sit on grass in a field at sunset, wearing light-colored sweaters and khakis, with trees and a fence in the background.

Hello, we’re Ricardo and Katieann Orellana, founders of Fernova Company — a family-run workshop based in Sacramento, California.

Every piece we make begins with a story — one shaped by legacy, faith, and the belief that the things we create can hold meaning beyond their form.

Fernova was born from two words: Fern, honoring my father Fernando, whose hands and heart inspired a lifelong love for craftsmanship; and Nova, symbolizing new light and beginnings. Together, they reflect what this brand stands for — where legacy meets creation, and something old gives way to something beautifully new.

What started as a passion in our home workshop has become a way to share our values through design — faith, family, and the art of making something that lasts. Each piece is crafted with care, guided by the lessons we hope to pass down to our three boys — Benjamin, Josiah, and Luke — so they’ll always know the value of building with purpose and creating with heart.

At Fernova Company, we don’t just make boards and keepsakes — we make heirlooms. Each piece is a reminder that what’s made with meaning never fades. It lives on — in our homes, our families, and the hands that come after us.
